THE FOUR CHILDREN AS DEPICTED IN MODERN HAGGADOT

Instructor: Rabbi Albert Thaler. This class will examine how the four sons (children) have been depicted and illustrated in Haggadot since the age of printing (1500). We will analyze how each son (child) was drawn, representing the values of the artist. “Who is wise”, according to Zionist Haggadah of 1955? What did a wicked child look like to Eastern European immigrants? What characteristics did the artists wish to show in each of the children?
