In commemoration of Yom HaShoah, the Shames JCC will present a showing of Not The Last Butterfly, a film inspired by the poem written by Pavel Friedmann, a young Czech who was interned in the Terezin concentration camp. His poem is entitled "I Never Saw Another Butterfly."
The presentation is part of the nationally acclaimed The Butterfly Project which teaches children about the Holocaust through art. An integral part of the Project is the painting of ceramic butterflies to commemorate each of the 1.5 million children who died in the Holocaust.
After the film, the filmaker, and co-founder of The Butterfly Project Cheryl Rattner will lead a Q and A. Immediately following, with the sponsorship of Engage Westchester, 75 ceramic butterflies will be painted.
The Program is free, but reservations must be made by going to www.shamesjcc.org
The same event will be held at the JCC Midwestchester also on April 11th at 7:30PM. Please go to their website for reservation information.
