Yom HaShoah v'Ha-G'vurah is a day for remembering the tragedy and celebrating the heroes of the Holocaust. Come hear Holocaust survivor Helga Schmitz-Fernich Luden tell her story-and in so doing, honor the memories of the six million Jews and five million others who perished at the hands of the Nazi regime. Organized by WRT's Holocaust Awareness and Remembrance Team (HART).
The evening will conclude with a performance by Zapekanka, a collective of musicians led by Ukranian born Yiddish singer Zhenya Lopatnik and features our own Oren Neiman on guitar. The music will include four selections representing different eras of Yiddish music starting before the Holocaust through songs written in the ghetto and culminating with a modern song written by Zhenya. This program is funded through a grant with Facing History and Ourselves.
